5 Things You Need To Know Today: June 17

Here is a list of things going on in and around Marlborough today.

1. There is a 60 percent chance of rain today, says the National Weather Service. Expect a high of 74 and cloudy skies today. 

2. Wegmans Food Markets’ Northborough store announced that it awarded Rebecca Dixon from and Julia Walsh from a $500 scholarship grant during both schools’ annual awards ceremony. These students were chosen by administrators from MHS and Assabet Valley who selected the recipients based upon the Wegmans’ Who We Are values: caring, respect, high standards, empowerment and making a difference.

3. Monike Ribeiro, of Marlborough, a recent graduate of where she was the winner of the Skills USA District Silver Medal in 2010 and 2011 for web design, was just awarded a scholarship by Simon Malls, the parent company of the .  She will be attending Framingham State College in the fall where she will be studying education.

4. Memorial Beach here in Marlborough will officially open for the summer tomorrow, Saturday, June 18. The beach is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Day passes/season passes are available. For prices and additional details, click here

5. The Better Business Bureau's Marlborough office recently put out a warning informing people that hundreds of online businesses are finding inactive Social Security numbers online – most of which are assigned to children under the age of 18 who have not started using them yet – and selling them under different names to help people establish fake credit.
