5 Things You Need to Know Today: Aug. 28

There is a lot going on with schools today, from the first day of school tomorrow to a school committee meeting tonight.

1. Summer will be officially finished as of tomorrow morning for many parents as school starts for the Marlborough public schools. This is a last minute reminder to dust off those backpacks and lunchboxes and prepare for tomorrow.

2. The School Committee is meeting tonight in executive session at 6 p.m. and regular session at 7:30 p.m.

3. Open door days will be held at the Whitcomb Middle School from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and at the Jaworek, Kane & Richer schools from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

4. The Master Singers of Worcester will be beginning today and September 4 for their upcoming four-concert season at 7:15 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury. There is a membership fee for the group, but this may be the way for you to get your voice out there.
