5 Things: Council Salaries and Yom Kippur

From Yom Kippur services to City Council salaries remaining the same for 2013; we have what you need to know today right here.

1. The City Council salaries are set to remain the same through 2013 at $9,449.09 a year. All other non-union employees will see a 2 percent increase.

2. It looks like events are upcoming for the Masonic Corp, Italian American Club, Moose Lodge and the Marlborough Country Club, which have all applied for one day alcohol permits. These will be discussed tonight at the Marlborough License Board meeting at 7:30 p.m.

3. The City Council voted to invite Commissioner Lafreniere and/or Assistant Commissioner Temple, along with a representative of Allied/Republic, to attend an Operations and Oversight committee meeting to discuss the progress of the new curbside trash pickup program. This will allow for a further discussion of the program and additional awareness, said City Councilor Joseph Delano who put the vote forward.

4. America "Runs on Dunkin" and according to the Marlborough Police Department, some people think they can gain extra profit from the chain. A Marlborough man was arrested recently on charges related to an alleged scheme to steal more than $5,000 from a local Dunkin Donuts store.

5. Temple Emanuel will hold Yom Kippur services at 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. today. A a Community Break Fast will occur at the end of Yom Kippur services tonight.
