When two women who had allegedly been shoplifting at J.C. Penney were confronted by a security guard, one let her mouth do the talking as she allegedly bit a security guard shortly before noon on Monday.
"Carline Paul bit one of the security officers," said Detective Scott DeCiero of the Community Services Bureau of the Marlborough Police Department.
Carline Paul, 26, of 68A Millbury Avenue in Millbury and Serxhane Kajtazi, 20, of 26 Louise Street Apt. 3 in Worcester had been stuffing clothing, jewelry and sheets into bags at the store, according to police officials and reports. The pair fled the store when confronted by a security guard, according to court documents.
They entered a black BMW where the security guard attempted to detain the pair, according to a police report.
"Security tried to detain them at which point the two females began to struggle with the security officer," said Det. DeCiero.
That is when Paul allegedly bit the security guard on the shoulder, according to court documents. The security officer was able to bring the pair back into the store where Marlborough police brought them into custody, said Det. DeCiero.
Both were charged with larceny over $250 — for items that totalled $617 — while Paul was also charged with assault and battery. They were both released on personal recognizance Tuesday.
