UPDATED: Weather Service Issues Severe Thunderstorm/Hail Watch

The National Weather Service says serve weather/thunderstorms are possible for Monday afternoon.

Marlborough and much of Massachusetts was put under severe weather alert from the National Weather Service Monday afternoon. 

As of 4:15 p.m. Monday afternoon, a warning had been issued for Middlesex and Worcester counties, as well as eight other counties, pertaining to the possible bad weather. 

"Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning," said the National Weather Service on their website. "Chance of precipitation is 50 percent with new rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."

Radar, as of this post, showed a group of severe storms in western Massachusetts slowly headed east. 

The watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Monday evening, though more storms are possible on Tuesday afternoon.

"Weather spotters are encouraged to report significant weather conditions according to standard operating procedures," said a release.
