Marlborough was hit with heavy rains and wind on Sunday as Hurricane Irene stopped by on her way through through the northeast.
Heavy rains and wind hit Marlborough as Hurricane Irene passed through on Sunday. While city residents were able to avoid injury for the most part, 10 Marlborians held-up in the emergency shelter at the , then at the after power failed at the former.
There was also a huge loss of electricity within the city limits on Sunday, estimated at one time to have affected approximately 20,000 residents. This was due to many downed trees and power lines.
