Victim in Marlborough House Explosion Dies
The victim in the October house explosion has died.
State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan and Marlborough Fire Chief James Fortin announced Wednesday that the victim of the in Marlborough has died.
"One of the key things that will happen now is we will be waiting for a report from the medical examiner'ss office. That will be a part of wrapping up the investigation," said Jennifer Mieth, Public Information Officer for the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The explosion is being investigated by the Marlborough Fire and Police Departments and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Fire officials had previously confirmed that gas was the source of the explosion, although the exact cause had not been determined.

The investigation revealed that the gas infrastructure inside or outside the home did not contribute to the incident and no malfunction or defect of the gas appliances in the home was detected, according to a release from the Fire Marshal's Office and Marlborough Fire Department.
“We want the public to be reassured it wasn’t a problem with the utility infrastructure,” said Mieth.

The incident was investigated by the Marlborough Fire and Police Departments and State Police assigned to the Office the State Fire Marshal. Assistance was received from the state Department of Public Utilities.
