Truck Fire Slowed Morning Traffic on 495

A morning truck fire slowed traffic on 495 South as three fire departments responded to the scene.

A tractor trailer truck fire in Berlin shortly after 9 a.m. this morning drew out the Marlborough, Hudson and Berlin fire departments on Route 495 South this morning.

“It was a fire in the cab of a truck," said Deputy Chief Ron Ayotte. “Hudson had pulled a line off their truck. They had extinguished a fire.”

No one was injured in the fire which took place in the cab of the truck which was pulling a tanker labeled for hazardous material transport. The fire was believed to be electrical, said Ayotte who explained an investigator from the Massachusetts State Police was at the scene.

The fire occured between Route 62 and the 290 exit on 495 South. When someone calls from a cell phone to report an accident, it can be unclear where they are and where the accident took place, said Ayotte. This is what caused multiple departments to be dispatched to the scene.
