Marlborough firefighters fought two structure fires over the weekend.

The first fire broke out at 5:21 p.m. on Friday at 698 Pleasant Street. When the first engine arrived, heavy smoke was visible from the eaves of the building and there was no access to the basement area, according to a release from the fire department.

Fire fighters were able to gain entry to the basement area, where the fire was, from the cellar stairs. The fire was quickly extinguished and the last Marlborough fire unit left the home at 6:13 p.m.

Was there another house fire near Highland St., on Sunday night? I saw fire trucks when driving nearby.
