Speeding Stop Nets Drug Bust on Framingham Road

Police discovered cocaine after one driver could not contain his nervousness.

A Framingham man was arrested Sunday on cocaine possession and distribution charges after police became suspicious due to the man's "uncontrollable shaking."

During a motor vehicle stop for speeding in the vicinity of 84 Framingham Rd., a officer arrested Carlos Barrientos, 46, of 17 Second St., Apt. 11, Framingham, after he discovered several baggies of cocaine and more than $200 in cash.

The drugs were discovered after Barrientos gave police a registration belonging to another person and was behaving in an extremely nervous manner.

"He was trembling uncontrollably, and the training and experience of the officer led him to believe that there was criminal activity involved here," said Det. Scott DeCiero.

After asking the driver to step out of his car, the arresting officer discovered several baggies of cocaine and cash inside a container of Mentos. The amount was enough to charge Barrientos with distribution of the drug. He was also charged with possession of  Class B drug and speeding.

A canine unit was called to the scene, but no additional cocaine was found. A "blue pill" was discovered, however, and is currently being tested as to its properties.
