Serious Assault Ends in Arrest

Officers from the responded a report of a fight at the Saturday morning and discovered that a woman had been badly beaten. 

"Upon arrival officers heard noises coming from one of the apartments and found a woman with a swollen face and lacerations," said Det. Scott DeCiero. 

The victims boyfriend was allegedly the culprit, said police, and had assaulted the woman with his fists and had cut her with a pair of scissors. When she attempted to call the police, he reportedly threatened to kill her as well. 

Alan J. Wooding, Jr., 33, of 8 Cotting Ave., Apt. 33, was arrested and charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and impeding an investigation through witness intimidation.

He was scheduled to appear in on Monday.
