Police Investigating Fatal Crash Near Marlborough

A driver is dead after an early morning crash that led to a car going off Rte. 290 eastbound in Northborough, near the Church Street exit, and into a tree, state police said.

Troopers responded to reports of the crash at 6:30 this morning, and located a vehicle in the woods. Emergency personnel pronounced the operator—the sole occupant of the vehicle—dead at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing and the identity of the operator has yet to be determined. As of 8 a.m., there were no lane closures, there was minimal impact on traffic flow, and the scene was not expected to clear until 9 a.m.
