Police Checkpoints on Tap for Saturday Evening

The Massachusetts State Police announced recently that they will be setting up sobriety checkpoints this weekend in Worcester county.

The Massachusetts State Police announced just days ago that they will be conducting more sobriety checkpoints on public roadways in Worcester County Saturday evening. Marlborough is on the border of Worcester County, and travelers could therefore be subject the checks.

"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," said Colonel Marian J. McGovern, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, in a press release. "It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."

The Worcester checkpoints will be in operation Saturday night, June 18 into Sunday morning, June 19.
