Police at Schools, Icy Roads and Police Help Boy with Cancer

All emergency officials were busy this week with icy conditions making a mess of the roads.

Police were active at the end of the week with a presence at Marlborough schools following internet chatter with vague threats.

Police were at the Middle and High Schools as well as Assabet Valley Vocational High School. Interim Superintendent Dr. Steven Dlott said that the presence was taken to alleve student anxiety.

Police Chief Mark Leonard said that police and school officials had been following internet and school chatter all week.

The roads were still a problem during Monday morning's commute to work and schools throughout the region.

Earlier that Sunday, police were left to deal with a man who allegedly was carrying another kind of "ice" behind a school. Police arrested Severino Magno Barros on charges of cocaine possession while he was walking behind Immaculate Conception Middle School.

Police from multiple departments came together on 495 later in the week to carry out the wishes of a boy who has been diagnosed with cancer.
