Marlborough Resident Arrested on Sixth OUI, Found to be Illegal Immigrant [Poll]

A Marlborough resident made headlines across the state on Sunday after being arrested in Boxboro.

A Mexican national currently residing in Marlborough illegally was taken into police custody in Boxboro Saturday morning when the vehicle he was driving was pulled over for having an expired inspection sticker. 

Eduardo Torres, 48, of 13 Cross St., Apt. 2, was arrested after failing a field sobriety test and providing a false name to police, said a Fox 25 report Sunday evening

This is the sixth arrest for Torres on drunk driving charges and he has been previously deported from the U.S. He is currently wanted by Homeland Security and ICE, said the report

According to a person familiar with the situation, who asked not to be named, Torres was a very disruptive presence in his Marlborough neighborhood, even intimidating his neighbors at times.

According to police records he was charged with operating on a suspended license, operating with an open container of alcohol, providing police with a false name to police, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating without an inspection sticker.

"The operator smelled of alcohol, displayed some signs and symptoms he'd been drinking,” Boxborough police Sgt. Warren O'Brien told WCVB, Channel 5 News. “He also found an open beer bottle on the passenger side of the vehicle.”

Three of his OUI convictions were in California and two have been in Massachusetts. He is currently being held without bail and will face charges in Ayer, MA on Monday morning.
