Marlborough Police have charged a 19-year-old resident of a city hotel with assault to murder, after he reportedly strangled a woman companion with his hands to the point where she lost consciousness.

Juan M. Ortiz, Jr., of 181 Boston Post Road West, room 234, Marlborough, was arrested by police following the reported assault in a room at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel, according to Marlborough Police detective Scott DeCiero, a police spokesman.

Ortiz is charged with felony assault to murder and assault and battery, a misdemeanor.

The woman was taken to an area hospital. Her condition was not clear.

The assault was reported initially as a disturbance at the hotel, about 1:07 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Marlborough police log. Ortiz is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at Marlborough District Court.

The hotels are quick to take the state's money to put these illegals up in free nice rooms. Then they repay us by committing crimes. My tax dollars hard at work. Only in Massachusetts.

"They" are NOT all criminals. Nice racist comment and generalization. Keep it classy.

If by "they" you mean the illegals, then every one of them has already broken the law by just being here in this country, no? But people of your mindset just keep rewarding them with hotel rooms, in-state tuition, SBT, Wick, Section 8, Welfare, Housing, and food stamps. Perfect.

They are human beings FIRST. I hope they annoy you until you grow a heart. HA!
