Marlborough Man is Charged with Attempted Murder After Strangling Woman

Police discovered a serious domestic assault after responding to a 911 hang-up early Thursday.

After responding to a second attempted murder call in less than a week, the has a local man in custody. 

At approximately 4:45 a.m. this morning, state police returned a 911 hang-up call and heard a women crying in the background. Marlborough police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. 

When police arrived at the 85 Broad St. address they found a domestic assault in progress and arrested Odiney Azevedo, 30, of 85 Broad St. Apt. 213, on charges of attempted murder and impeding an investigation through witness intimidation.

"The victim had been strangled," said Detective Scott DeCiero. "She was transported to ."

The witness intimidation charges stemmed from the suspect trying to prevent the victim from alerting authorities, said police.

DeCiero added, to his knowledge, the victim's injuries were not life-threatening.
