Marlborough Man Arraigned in Northborough on Child Rape Case

Jeffrey Chaulk was arraigned on charges of raping and assaulting a child under the age of 14 over a long period of time.

A Marlborough resident, originally from Northborough, was arraigned on rape and assault charges Wednesday in Westborough District Court, accused of having sex with a girl and giving her alcohol and pot when she was between the ages of 11 and 16.

Jeffrey Chaulk, 51, 280 Elm St., Apt. 9, Marlborough, was arrested by Northborough police in cooperation with  on a warrant Tuesday on charges of aggravated statutory rape of a child, three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and statutory rape of a child.

Prosecutors asked for $25,000, according to TheDailyNorthborough, while McMaster, citing Chaulk’s cooperation during the investigation and arraignment, asked for $5,000. Judge Robert Calagione set bail at $20,000, and ordered Chaulk to make no contact with the victim or the victim’s family.

Chaulk is accused of having natural and unnatural sexual intercourse with the girl, who lived nearby in Northborough.

Police originally became aware of the situation on Nov. 29, 2011, when they responded to the victim entering Chaulk's residence for a breaking and entering in progress. Chaulk's spouse called police. The victim said she was at the house with the permission of Chaulk, who said she could pick up alchohol from his basement, according to the report. A text message sent to the victim from Chaulk said, "I have Bud Lite limes in the basement refrigerator if (his wife) isn't around."

Chaulk was advised he would be charged with supplying alcohol to a minor.

On Nov. 30, 2011, the victim was interviewed by detectives. Uncomfortable with the questioning, a forensic interviewer was requested to talk with the victim at the Worcester District Attorney's office.

Naming Chaulk as the one who had been sexually abusing her, she described Chaulk and herself engaged in various sex acts, according to the report, which occurred between the age of 11 and beyond her 16th birthday "on diverse dates in Mr. Chaulk's basement at 13 Howe Ln."

The victim said Chaulk would "ask her to work for him and he would give her money, marijuana and alcohol," and in return, "would perform oral sex on Mr. Chaulk in his basement and he would also perform oral sex on her in his basement." The victim stated, according to police, that Chaulk would "sometimes forcefully grab her and bring her into his basement and then forcefully assault her against her will."

Judge Calagione continued the case to Feb. 6.
