Marlborough Resident, Two Minors Severely Injured in Waltham Crash

A Marlborough resident driving a 2009 Honda Civic lost control of her vehicle Friday evening on 128 southbound in Waltham. Serious injuries have been reported.

The Massachusetts State Police responded to a crash on 128 southbound shortly after 8:30 p.m. involving a Marlborough resident. 

Yamel Jimenez, 26, was driving a 2009 Honda Civic when for unknown reasons lost control of her vehicle in the vicinity of Exit 27, Winter Street, in Waltham. After losing control of the vehicle, Jimenez struck a 2010 Ford Explorer traveling in the far left lane operated by Joseph Lupo, 36, of Stoneham. 

"After the impact, the Explorer struck a jersey barrier and rolled over landing on the guardrail" said a release. "There were two girls, ages 4 and 8, who were passengers in the Honda.

According to a doctor who was early on the scene, the occupants of the Civic have all received serious, but not life-threatening injuries. 

"The driver of the Honda was taken by medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital and the two children were transported to Children's Hospital by ambulance," said the release. "The driver of the Explorer was taken to Newton-Wellesley hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

According to the the latest information provided by the Massachusetts State Police, the highway was cleared around 11:30 p.m.

As of the latest release from the Massachusetts State Police, there is no mention of charges pending against Jimenez.
