March 13—26: Kitchen Fires and Elevator Malfunctions Top Log

Here is a complete accounting of the calls the Marlborough Fire Department responded to over the past week, Sunday, March 13 to Saturday, March 26, 2011.

The following are the responses from March 13th through March 26th, 2011.

  • Fire and CO responses: 69
  • EMS/Rescue Responses: 128
  • MVA responses: 9
  • Hazardous Condition responses: 6
  • Public service/Special responses: 23
  • MFD Incident responses through March 26th: 1,612. That total is 218 calls ahead of 2010’s pace.

Selected Incidents: The Marlborough Fire Department responded to 10 water evacuation calls for flooded basements due to the heavy rains and snow melting.

MFD personnel also did quarterly and home fire alarm inspection details during the week.

  • Incident #2011- 1410: Engine 1, Engine 2, Rescue 1, Ladder 2 and Car 2 were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at 85 Broad Street. A pan on the stove caught fire and caused a smoke condition in the apartment.
  • Incident #2011- 1442: Engine 1, Engine 3, Rescue 1, Ladder 2 and Car 2 responded to an odor investigation at Staples. 171 Boston Post Road East. The store was evacuated while firefighters using thermal imagers and metering equipment checked the rooftop units and all of the electrical and mechanical systems in the store to determine the source.
  • Incident #2011- 1495: Engine 2 and Rescue 1 were dispatched to 145 Pleasant Street, the pleasant Court Condominiums for a party trapped in a malfunctioning elevator.
  • Incident #2011- 1566:  Engine 1, Engine 2, Rescue 1, Ladder 2 and Car 2 were dispatched to a fire alarm activation caused by an oven fire at the Academy Knoll Apartments, 22 Broad Street.
  • Incident #2011- 1595: Engine 2 and Rescue 1 were dispatched to 145 Pleasant Street, the pleasant Court Condominiums for a party trapped in a malfunctioning elevator.
