Man Confesses After Police Interrupt Home Robbery

Two men confessed to an attempted break-in over the weekend.

A man confessed to attempting to break in to a Marlborough home after a neighbor alerted police to suspicious people in the area.

"The two conspired for Mr. White to enter the house by force and break property within the home while Mr. Lavalee acted as a 'look out,'" wrote Officer Jared Snapp in his police report.

Police ultimately arrested Nicholas A. White, 22, of 14 Highfield Dr. in Lancaster and Richard R. Lavallee, 22, of 213 Federal Hill Road in Millbury after they were found roaming the area of DiCenzo Boulevard shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday. They eventually confessed to an attempted break-in, but initially the two men said they were scouting fishing holes.

"Both claimed they were not from Marlborough and given the recent rash of B + E's the two were conversed with further," wrote Marlborough Officer Jared Snapp who found rubber gloves and a leatherman on White. "Neither had any gear commonly used for fishing."

Upon inspecting the pairs car, parked in the Target parking lot off of Boston Post Road, police found fishing gear that was not prepared for fishing as well as a double sided knife and three credit cards not in the men's names. A GPS on the dash of the vehicle, the registration of which was revoked due to insurance, gave a Lilac Circle address.
