Man Charged with Assaulting Pregnant Woman

A Marlborough man was arrested in front of city hall on multiple assault charges.

Police arrested a Marlborough man shortly after midnight Wednesday on charges of assaulting a pregnant woman.
Police arrested Timothy M. Devine, 33, of 38 Maple Street Apt. 5 in front of City Hall on Main Street shortly after midnight after they were called to the scene for a disturbance. When they arrived, Devine told them a friend of his had been assaulted while attempting to return items to his ex-girlfriend.
While they were talking, the ex-girlfriend came to the scene and told police she had broken up with Devine on Tuesday because he had been physically and emotionally abusive, including punching her in the legs, according to court documents. She stated that Devine had also thrown a cigarette rolling machine and cell phone at her, hitting her in the legs and punched the wall above her bed while she was lying in it, according to the police report.
Devine told police that he had done everything but punch his ex in the legs and confirmed that she was pregnant. He was arrested on charges of assault and battery on a pregnant person, two counts of  assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault.
While in booking, Divine made suicidal statements, according to the police report, and was brought to the Marlborough Hospital where he was evaluated and monitored after a section 12 evaluation was made. He was released on $250 cash bail.
