Man Charged with Assaulting 6-year-old, Forcing Hot Sauce

Police investigated the incident Friday night.

A reported domestic disturbance on Belmont Street Friday night led to the arrest of a Framingham man who police and prosecutors say abused a 6-year-old left in his care, choking him and forcing hot sauce into his mouth.

Jorge O Rivera, Jr., of 17A Second St. Framingham, was arrested in connection with an incident , and charged with assault and battery on a child with injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and reckless endangerment of a child.

Rivera, 26, was arraigned Monday in Marlborough District Court where his bail was initially set at $1,000 but later evoked due to an outstanding warrant, according to media reports, and is due back in court on June 7 for a pretrial hearing. Prosecutors allege Rivera forced hot sauce into the boy's mouth after the child, who Rivera was reportedly watching on behalf of a friend, talked back to him.

According to a WBZ Radio radio report, a neighbor of Rivera's in Framingham said he had once worked at a day care center.

The boy Rivera allegedly assaulted was not seriously injured, police said.
