Man Caught with Drugs Near Hildreth School

Drug and weapons charges have been leveled at a man who was arrested within 1,000 feet of the Hildreth School.

A suspicious vehicle caught two patrolman's eyes on Monday night, leading to an arrest on drug and weapons charges.

“The operator was reaching around inside the vehicle when the officers approached it," said Detective Scott DeCiero of the Community Services Bureau of the Marlborough Police Department.

Police had the man, identified as Corey Cheney, 22, of 18 Hastings Street, exit the vehicle shortly before 9:30 p.m. After searching the vehicle, they found brass knuckles, 21 Percoccet and half a Suboxone, according to court documents. Drug paraphanalia was found, including multiple plastic baggies that are used to store drugs, according to court records.

“They also found cut straws in the vehicle which are commonly used to snort cocaine," said Det. DeCiero explaining these had a caked on substance that officers thought was cocaine.

When police were booking Cheney, they found $800 in cash in his posession.

He has been charged with conspiracy to violate drug law, drug violation near a school or park, carrying a dangerous weapon, possessing class B drugs to distribute and possessing class C drugs to distribute.
