July 1-14: Fire Dept. Responds to Multiple Car, Structure Fires

A complete accounting of the calls the Marlborough Fire Department responded to over the past several weeks.

The following are the responses by the from June 4 through June 30.,2011

  • Fire and CO responses: 82
  • EMS/Rescue Responses: 95
  • MVA responses: 19
  • Hazardous Condition responses: 3
  • Public Service/Special responses: 18
  • MFD Incident responses through July14, 2011: 3,429

         That total is 237 calls ahead of 2010’s pace.

Selected Incidents: The Marlborough Fire Department had an extremely busy couple of weeks, with a variety of calls ranging from car, cooking and structure fires to motor vehicle accidents with serious personal injury in addition to right to know training and inspection details.

 I2011- 3213:  Engine 3 and Rescue 1 responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries in front of Papa Ginos, 250 East Main Street

 I2011-3214: Engine 1, Engine 3, Rescue 1, Ladder 1 and Car 2 responded to a gas grill fire at 46 Danjou Drive.

 I2011- 3215: Engine 2 responded to car fire at 84 Pleasant Street.

 I2011- 3221: Engine 3 responded to a Harper Circle address for a report of man injured in a fall.

 I2011- 3229: Engine 2 responded to a car fire at 214 Broad Street.

 I2011-3243: Engine 3 and Rescue 1 responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries in front of Bertucci’s on Boston Post Road East.

 I2011-3260: Engine 1 and Rescue 1 responded to a single car motor vehicle accident in front of 73 Bolton Street. The car had impacted with a tree at a high rate of speed. The car had to cut apart to gain access to the patient and Life Flight was requested for an aeromedical trauma transport.

 I2011- 3275: Engine 1, Ladder 2 and Rescue 1 responded to Wendy’s on Boston Post Road West for a report of a possible electrical fire.

I2011- 3276: Engine 2, Car 2 and the City Wiring Inspector responded to a report of an electrical problem at 496 Lincoln Street, the SMOC transitional housing.

 I2011-3283: Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Rescue 1, Ladder 2 and Car 2 responded to a reported building fire at 38 Maple Street. The fire was between two layers of siding and was caused by the3 careless disposal of smoking materials.

 I2011- 3302: Engine 2 and Rescue 1 responded to Route 495 Southbound for a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

 I2011-3365: Engine 1, Engine 3, Ladder 2, and Rescue 1 were dispatched to East Main and Church Street for an electrical fire involving two 13,800 volt power lines and a manhole.

 I2011- 3379: Engine 2, Rescue 1 and Car 2 responded mutual aid to Northborough for a single car motor vehicle accident on Route 290 East just before the Hudson Street/Solomon Pond Road exit.

 I2011-3383: Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Ladder 1 and Car 2 responded to a structure fire at 168 Boston Post Road East, the Cider Hill Condominiums. One unit suffered heavy fire damage, and a pet rabbit died in the blaze.

 I2011- 3409: Engine 2, Rescue 1 and Car 2 responded to a motor vehicle fire on the Route 290 connector.

 I2011- 3423: Engine 1 responded to a car fire at Marlborough Hospital, 157 Union Street.
