Framingham Man Charged with Armed Robbery of Broad Street Store

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 3 police responded to the report of an armed robbery of the 7-Eleven on Broad St.

Hours after the on Broad St. was robbed early Tuesday morning, the apprehended and charged a Framingham man who had absconded with an undisclosed amount of cash.

At 12:42 a.m. police received a call reporting an armed robbery at 92 Broad St. When they arrived the suspect was gone leaving no trace, said Det. Martha Shea. After mounting an investigation that utilized a K-9 unit from the Massachusetts State Police as well as the expertise of Marlborough police detectives, Louis Torres, 20, of Framingham, was arrested on suspicion of the crime. He was charged with armed robbery.

It is unclear if the suspect was actually armed during the robbery (as he was arrested with no weapon on his person), but was charged with such as he intimidated the store clerk with the threat.

"A male entered the store and demanded the clerk open the register," said Shea. "He made statements that indicated he would cause her harm if she did not comply. He took money from the register and fled on foot."

Thanks to an accurate description of the suspect, officers recognized and stopped Torres walking near the 7-Eleven shortly after 7 a.m.

Torres was charged after officers discovered the stolen money on his person.

Police believe he was working alone.
