Feb. 27-March 5: Marlborough Fire Department Responds to Fatal Accident

Here is a complete accounting of the calls the Marlborough Fire Department responded to over the past week, Sunday, Feb. 27 - Saturday, March 5, 2011.

The following are the responses from February 26th to March 5th, 2011

  • Fire and CO responses: 36
  • EMS/Rescue Responses: 75
  • MVA responses: 8
  • Hazardous Condition responses: 12
  • Public service/Special responses: 9
  • MFD Incident responses through Mach 5th: 1,243. That total is 198 calls ahead of 2010’s pace.

 Selected Incidents:

  • Incident #2011-1140:  Engines 1 and 2, Rescue 1, Ladder 2 and Car 2 were dispatched to an electrical problem at 187 West Main Street, which also required the response of Code Enforcement and the wiring inspector, as code violations were found.
  • Incident #2011-1180: Engine 4 responded to commercial motor vehicle fire on Lakeside Avenue.
  • Incident #2011-1188: Engine 4 was dispatched to a Chase Road residence for an activation of a carbon monoxide detector. Upon arrival, the residents were out of the house. 200 parts per million were found on the basement level of the home. The source was a malfunctioning water heater.
  • Incident #2011-1208: Engine 4 and Rescue 1 were dispatched to a 4 car motor vehicle accident on the I-290 connector at the intersection of Fitchburg Street. The Hudson Fire Department, the State Police, Marlborough and Hudson Police departments also responded. One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene, the other succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
  • Incident #2011-1239: Engine 4 and Rescue 1 were dispatched to Macy’s at the Solomon Pond Mall for a report of a person trapped in an elevator.
