Dispose of Christmas Trees Properly in Marlborough

Curbside pickup of trees is happening in Marlborough while the State Fire Marshal says trees have been involved in fires.

State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan this week urged community members to dispose of their Christmas trees properly.

Christmas trees kept too long after the holiday have been involved in fires, including one at a Lunenberg condominium last Jan. 9, Coan said in a press release.

In Marlborough, Christmas tree pickup has been occuring since Dec. 31. Residents are instructed to leave their trees — free of ornaments — on the curb during what would have been their trash day before the current trash program went into effect. The pickup will continue through Jan. 11.
