Department Extinguishes Condo Fire

A department effort extinguished a fire at the Marlborough Court Condominiums Wednesday night.

A balcony fire at the Marlborough Court Condominiums was extinguished by the Marlborough Fire Department around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

"Engine Three’s crew made entry and cleared everybody out and extinguished the fire along with the help of other companies," said Marlborough Fire Department Deputy Chief John McGrath of the top floor apartment. “It was a department effort.”

The damage was limited to one unit, he said, with rescue tower, engine one and engine three responding to the scene.

“The main damage is exterior to the top balcony with some minor smoke and water damage inside," said McGrath who explained every other unit at the complex was unaffected. “Only one condo was affected. The rest of the building is still inhabited."

The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
