Cops Warn of Local Scam Operating Out of Mall Parking Lot

A flat screen television scam is taking residents for a ride to the Solomon Pond Mall only to end up out of some cash.

The is warning residents about a flat screen television scam operating out of the Solomon Pond Mall parking lot. 

"MPD Would like to warn its citizens about a scam that has successfully targeted several residents in the community over the last couple of months, said a press release.

Police said that several residents have received phone calls about a sale on flat screen TV's for Sale at the local .

"The caller will then give the details about the TV and advise the person the transaction will take place at Sears department store located at the ," said police. "This gives the individual a false sense of legitimacy."

The perpetrators of the scam require cash payment, and lure unsuspecting victims to the Sears main entrance at which an individual dress as an employee will exit and conduct a transaction.

They then ask the buyer to wait outside while they retrieve the merchandise, but then never return, said police. 

MPD warns individuals to be vigilant about the possibility of scams. 

"If this was a legitimate transaction it would have taken place in the store, where the customer would have received the goods at the time of payment while at the cash register. Remember, if it is 'too good to be true' this is an indicator it is a scam," said police.
