A bicyclist was lifeflighted this morning after being struck by a box truck

A bicyclist who was struck by a box truck was lifeflighted to UMass Memorial this morning.

Update:

The state police reconstruction team will be investigating the cause of a morning accident that sent a bicyclist to the hospital via a helicopter.

"The police are going to handle the investigation from there,” said Deputy Chief Fred Flynn who stated the bicyclist was wearing a helmet.

The bicyclist collided with a box truck at approximately 7:18 a.m. as he rode west on Millham Street when a truck coming east made a turn, he said. The man was transported to the Marlborough Hospital and lifeflighted to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester.

The bicyclist was struck around 7:30 a.m. in the area of 207 Millham Street, according to fire officials and scanner reports. The rider was down with head and leg trauma, according to scanner chatter.

Marlborough Fire Department personnel were on scene, with the bicyclist ultimately lifeflighted to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester.
