Attempted Rape In Marlborough

A man flagged by immigration has been charged with attempted rape.

Police have charged a Marlborough man wanted by United States immigration with attempted rape following an incident shortly after 9 p.m. Friday night.

“Part of the sexual comments were the defendant wanted to commit sexual acts," said Det. Scott DeCiero of the Community Services Bureau of the Marlborough Police Department of the actions of a Marlborough man towards a woman. "At one point, she was forced onto the couch at which point the defendant forcefully grabbed her (private parts)."

The man, identified as Henry Joel Hernandez-Reanos, 20, of 37 Hosmer Street Apt. 23, returned back to his apartment and began first verbally addressing a woman in the apartment in a sexual manner and then touching her sexually, said DeCiero. Hernandez-Reanos also allegedly grabbed the woman's phone away from her when she attempted to call police. It was not until a dog in the apartment began barking and nipping at Hernandez-Reanos, distracting him.

"It gave the victim enough time to grab her phone,” said DeCiero.

When police arrived, they arrested the man. Upon running his fingerprints through the system, they found he was flagged with an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Detainer. This detainer would allow police to have detained Hernandez-Reanos if they had come into contact with him. He may yet be turned over to immigration, said DeCiero.

Hernandez-Reanos, 20, of 37 Hosmer Street Apt. 23 was charged with assault to rape, indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over, impeding an investigation through witness intimidation, threatening to commit a crime, vandalizing property and assault and battery.

Further information on the case was impounded due to the sexual nature of the charges. Hernandez-Reanos was held and will appear on a dangerousness hearing on May 15.
