Attempted Murder and a Downtown Fire

This week was a busy one for police and fire, with numerous arrests that included attempted murder and a fire downtown on Friday.

It was a quiet week for firefighters until the very end of the week.

They battled a two-alarm fire in the MacDonald Hotel Friday morning. The fire was spotted by passing firefighters and everyone was evacuated. The fire spread into the first floor of the building and a total of three fire departments were on the scene working to extinguish the fire.

One business owner told Patch of how he was evacuated by firefighters shortly after smelling smoke.

Marlborough police had a number of arrests on their hands this week.

It started off with an alleged attempted murder. According to police records, a man allegedly choked a woman into unconsciousness and then threatened her with a BB gun that she did not know was not a real gun.

Another man allegedly used a real gun to assault a pregnant woman this week. He allegedly pushed that gun into the woman's stomach after asking for money for drugs, according to court documents.

A father and son were arrested this week when they allegedly got into a fight over money. The fight ended with both being arrested.
