West Boylston Man Arrested in Bigelow Street Break-in

After a neighbor reported suspicious activity, Marlborough police were able to stop a burglary in progress.

After responding to a 911 call from a vigilant neighbor Tuesday morning, police discovered a burglary in progress on Bigelow Street. 

At approximately 9:20 a.m., officers confronted James A. Fancy, 26, of 80 Laurel St., West Boylston, inside 462 Bigelow St. wearing black gloves and holding a hammer in a threatening fashion, said Det. Scott DeCiero of the Marlborough Police Department

A neighbor had previously noticed Fancy approaching the rear of the home after loitering in his vehicle for some time. Once arrived, police searched the perimeter of the home and noticed forced entry.

"He had broken the frame of one of the rear windows to gain entry to the home," said DeCiero. 

Officers called for backup and placed Fancy under arrest. He was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony, two counts of assault and battery, malicious destruction of property more than $250, possession of a burglarious instrument, possession of a Class D drug (marijuana), possession of a Class C drug (Klonopin), possession of a Class A drug (morphine) and receiving stolen property.

The drug charges stemmed from items found in the suspect's vehicle, that in all totaled a bag of marijuana and a small quantity of Klonopin and morphine. Fancy was also found in possession of several pieces of jewelry stolen from the home. 

The resident was not at home at the time of the burglary.
