Armed Man Arrested Outside Westender; “Chilling” Texts Sent to Ex

Police arrested a man with a revolver outside the Westender Wedneday after he allegedly told his ex-girlfriend he would have a shootout with police.

“Nathan responded ‘good then I’ll have a shoot out with the police,’” wrote Officer James Gough in his police report of a statement given by the man’s ex-girlfriend when she told him the police were on the way.

Police arrested Nathan David Wiesner, 23, of 50 W. Main Street Apt. 16 A in Westborough at the Westender in response to a call that a man who was stalking an employee was outside the building with a gun, according to court documents.

“Dispatch received a frantic 911 call,” wrote Gough who was among the officers that responded to the scene. “Dispatch stated that Nathan is licensed to carry in Massachusetts, owns a .44 Magnum which he always carries on his person.”

When police approached Wiesner — parked in a black Chevrolet Cavalier in front of the liquor store in the Westender plaza — he provided them with his license to carry and they retrieved the revolver from the car, according to court documents.

“I could smell a pretty strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his mouth as he talked,” wrote Gough in his police report where Wiesner reportedly responded that he had drank one beer.

According to the police report, the ex-girlfriend stated they had dated for four years. During a court proceeding Thursday, it was revealed that the ex-girlfriend had allegedly been receiving texts from Wiesner.

Marlborough Judge David Cunis said the texts — compiled in an email — the ex-girlfriend had received from Wiesner were “disturbing.”

“If she’s terrified, she has every right to be because this is chilling,” said Cunis.

Police had charged Wiesner with a false bomb/dangerous item threat, carrying a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace. The carrying a dangerous weapon charge was dismissed without prejudice as Wiesner has a license to carry. He was held pending a dangerousness hearing.
