April 10—16: Man on Fire, MFD Saves Local from Injury

Here is a complete accounting of the calls the Marlborough Fire Department responded to over the past week, Sunday, April 10 through Saturday, April 16, 2011.

The following are the responses by the Marlborough Fire Department from April 10th through April 16th.

  • Fire and CO responses: 30
  • EMS/Rescue Responses:59
  • MVA responses: 5
  • Hazardous Condition responses: 12
  • Public service/Special responses: 1
  • MFD Incident responses through April 16th: 2,008. That total is 233 calls ahead of 2010’s pace.

The Marlborough Fire Department received training in ICS-300, part of the National Incident Management System and received vehicle extrication training.

Selected Incidents:

  • Incident 2011-1904:  Engine 1 responded to a reported brush fire in the area of Ward Park
  • Incident 2011-1948: Engine 2 responded to a vehicle fire on Route 290 Eastbound
  • Incidents 2011-1953 and 1954: Engine 2 responded to a medical at 83 Mill Street and discovered an illegal auto body shop being operated there. Car 2 responded as well as Code Enforcement.
  • Incident 2011-1969: Engine 2 and Rescue 1 responded to a motor vehicle accident at Exit 24C off of Interstate 495. The accident resulted in a fatality.
  • Incident 2011-1982: Engine 1, Engine 2, Rescue 1,  Ladder 2 and Car 2 were dispatched to 75 South Bolton Street for a report of an odor of smoke in the building. It turned out that there was a person whose clothing was on fire as they exited the store. The person’s sweatpants were extinguished and the person wearing them was not injured.
  • Incident 2011-1820: Engine 1, Engine 2, Rescue 1, Ladder 2 and Car 2 were dispatched to a Washington Street residence for a report of a gas grill fire with exposure to the home.
