Alleged Drug Dealer Arrested While Speeding

Police have charged a man with distributing marijuana after reportedly finding marijuana and cocaine in his car after a traffic stop.

A traffic stop for speeding turned into an arrest for drug possession and dealing in Marlborough Thursday.

When police pulled over Nelson A. Rodriguez, 32, of 38 Cotting Ave. Apt. 3 on Boston Post Road East shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday, they arrested him on charges of a susequent offense of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended licensen and speeding. Only after he was being booked and his car was searched did drug charges follow.

"His vehicle was inventoried at which point they discovered two glass mason jars inside the vehicle," said Det. Scott DeCiero of the Community Services Bureau of the Marlborough Police Department. "One of the jars had approximately one ounce of marijuana."

Another mason jar in the car was found to have six individually wrapped baggies containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, according to police. The total weight of the alleged marijuana was 34 ounces, according to court documents. Police also found two scales and a plastic baggie with a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, according to police.

Due to the scales and individually wrapped baggies, Rodriguez was charged with drug possession class B, drug possession class D and drug possession to distribute class D. He was released on $500 cash bail.
