With a long dining counter complete with swivel stools and a section devoted to tables, feels like a marriage between a traditional diner and a cozy eatery. The menu boasts all of the staples of a hearty breakfast such as a variety of eggs benedict, breakfast sandwiches and omelets of which the claim is posted on the menu that they will make any type of omelet one might crave.
For some early morning carb loading, try the giant portion of french toast combined with a steaming side of freshly made hash browns. Dress up the hash browns with bacon bits, scallions, sour cream and cheddar cheese by ordering them loaded.
But don't be fooled by their reputation for good, hearty breakfasts. Jake's also has a wide variety of lunch food available. Hanging above the open air kitchen are boards listing daily specials such as chicken parm ziti, American chop suey and a fried chicken dinner plate. One customer commented as he left with three cups of it "to go" that Jake's has the best seafood chowder in New England.
Owner Loucas Comitas bought the restaurant nine years ago and will hopefully continue running Jake's for years to come. Stop on by this friendly establishment nestled within the heart of Marlborough. And don't forget to grab a fresh, made to order cannoli before leaving the restaurant.
Jake's Restaurant is located at 30 Main Street. Remember to swing by an ATM before dropping by because credit cards are not accepted here, and the restaurant is closed on Mondays.
