5 Things You need to Know Today: June 7

Downtown's newest business hopes to be open Monday and why you might want to update your LinkedIn password.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1.I f you have a LinkedIn account, you may want to consider taking a few moments to change your password. The business-focused social networking site confirmed Wednesday that some passwords were compromised recently. Those who were impacted will be contacted by LinkedIn, but the site said good security practice is to update passwords at least once a quarter.

2. The newest business in the downtown village is hoping to be open by Monday, just in time for Taste of Marlborough and Brewfest. The shop, called Charmed, will occupy a former nail salon and feature spiritual products and services and is owned by Lady T, who also operates Charmed in New England in Lancaster.

3. Marlborough Technology Park also has a new tenant, and it has a British accent. The UK-based Weetabix Food Company has taken a lease on nearly 15,000-square-feet of space in the park and will relocate it local operations from Clinton, according to the real estate firm of Normandy Real Estate Partners.  

4. File under: Looking a gift horse over carefully: Marlborough Babe Ruth Baseball wnts to donate a portable automatic electronic defilfbrilator (AED) to the city, but first the city wants to amke sure it can say yes. The CIty Council voted to refer the proposed gift to the operations and oversight committee, as well as legal counsel, and to do so as soon as possible.
