Obituaries: Sister Beatrice Ebacher, Laura Pitard

The following residents of Marlborough have died in recent days.

Sister Beatrice EbacherSSCh, (Sr. Marie-Henriette), died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at Marie Esther Health Center, Boston Post Rd., Marlborough. 
Born in Lawrence, Sr. Beatrice was the daughter of the late Philias and Rose (Pinault) Ebacher. She is survived by her sisters, Sr. Margaret Ebacher, SSCh and Sr. Marie Therese Ebacher, SSCh, both of Marlborough. She was also the sister of the late Lucien Ebacher, Raymond Ebacher, Roger Ebacher (Fr. Jerome, O.C.S.O.) and Joseph Ebacher. 
A member of religious life for 80 years, Sr. Beatrice, a teacher, was stationed in Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island as well as Quebec before being transferred to France. She spent the next 15 years serving as Superior at the Mother House and at Sablon, Metz, Superior at the Sarquemine Boarding School and at the Major Seminary in Issy-les-Moulineaux in Paris. Upon returning to the United States, Sister Beatrice lived in Pawtucket before retiring to Marlborough. 

Laura E. (Baldwin) Pitard, 83, of Marlborough died peacefully Friday Dec. 27, 2013 at her home, surrounded by family. She was the wife of Albert K. Pitard for the last 60 years. She was born in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of the late William C. and Ethelyne (Hanlon) Baldwin, and was a graduate of Marlborough High School Class of 1948.  She was a bookkeeper for Thom McAn Shoe Co. in Worcester for many years.  Laura enjoyed reading, crafts, knitting, crosswords, Bingo and camping under the Bourne Bridge. She was a former member of the “Mother of Twins Club” and a member of AARP.
