NorthboroughMarcella A. Shepherd, 78, was born in Worcester and a longtime resident of Carlisle. Recently, she resided in Northborough, where she died Dec. 22 from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.

She was a graduate of Westborough High School in 1952 and Saint Vincent’s School of Nursing 1955. She was a retiree from Middlesex School of Concord, Director of Nursing Services.

ShrewsburyMatthew George Hopewell, 92, died peacefully in his home on Dec. 23, surrounded by his family.

Hopewell was a proud World War II veteran, and served with the 29th Division, 115th Infantry, and landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He worked for New England Power for over 45 years and helped open the Yankee Atomic Power Plant in Rowe Mass.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima and American Legion Post #234 Women’s Auxiliary.

MarlboroughHerbert C Edmunds, 91, husband of the late Mary (Mack) Edmunds, died on Sunday, Dec. 16. They were married for 61 years.

Edmunds was a veteran of World War II and fought at both the Battle of the Bulge and the D-Day invasion in Normandy. He went on to work as a bus driver for the B&W bus lines.
