7 Mile Scenic Run

Here's how I made a seven mile scenic run into Southborough and back.

It was time to get out and run seven miles. The six milers have gone well and I needed to up the distance. Although I had a sore hamstring, I stretched and warmed up well and off I went to Southborough. Who says there is not a lot of interesting things in or near Marlborough!

Points of interest:

1. Dav-Lin Farm: Check out the goats.

2. Dav-Lin Acres: Notice the canoe in the tree! Then run up Chest Hill Road and Chestnut Hill Farm is an 131 acre forever wild property given to Southborough by the Beals family.

3. Take a look at all the cows as you pass by.

4. Pass Chestnut Hill Farm sign then turn on to Route 30 and east to Sears Road. The running goes well except that Chestnut Hill and route 30 are both challenging hills! Sears Road is a ritzy section of town.

5. Fun fact: From here you are only 27 miles to Boston! Keep running up Sears Road past the many expensive homes, then up another steep hill and under the railroad bridge. Take a left on Route 85.

6. Back in Marlborough: Go up Maple Street/Route 85, and left on South Street. I love the open farm land; and, oh, another hill! Turn left on Beach Street and run up to the ICC cemetery.

7. ICC Cemetery: Take a jog through paths and walkways here.

8. Left on Clover Hill: Go up Clover Hill and home. (Clover Hill is about 120 feet up!)

9. Finished Run in about 1 hour, 15 minutes. I had an average heart rate of 147, and burned 1601 calories.

This was my longest run in about 15 years and it was quite scenic too!
