Traveling down to New Bedford last Saturday, the Colonials looked to improve their record to 3 and 4.  Taking on the 2 - 4 Whaling City Clippers, Metrowest looked to sweep the season series with their division rival, having already beat them 24 - 0 at home earlier this year.

Nick Ferrera led the offense down field on their first drive of the game and what looked like a promising opportunity to score and take an early lead ended when a miscommunication on the routes of the receiver resulted in an interception on the Clippers' one yard line.  The Colonial defense took the field and the momentum right back by stuffing the ensuing run play for a safety.  This was the beginning of a strong run by the local team.

After an 8 yards touchdown pass to Steve Sanders the Colonials took a 9 - 0 lead into the second quarter.  Despite moving the ball efficientlty, metrowest was unable to add to the lead before halftime.  However, the swarming and aggressive defense kept the Whaling City offense on its heals.  Led by linebacker Tyrelle Robinson, the defense forced a fumble and consistently stymied any run attempts inside or outside.  Passing proved equally as difficult as the front seven consistently applied pressure and forced the passer out of the pocket and throw incomplete when he could get the ball away.

The second half began with the Clippers trying to catch the visitors by surprise with an on-side kick.  However, Billy Crisafulli fielded it and rumbled fifty yards for a quick score.  QB Nick Ferrara added another score in the third quarter when he connected with Brandon Lovelace from eight yards out for another touchdown.  The Colonial defense kept up the assault and held the Clippers scoreless while also watching Defensive End Errol Crawford, Linebacker Jeff Hoglund and Defensive Tackle Brian Arthur bring down the passer several time and forcing numerous errant throws.

Later in the fourth quarter, the scoring was capped off with a four yard run by Adam Ryan to make it 30 to 0 following the successful extra point by Pat Causo.  In the end, the Clippers were held to 22 total yards of offense and held scoreless for the second straight game against the Colonials.

This week the Colonials travel to Hanover at 3:00pm to take on the Coastal Chiefs who were beat 19 - 3 in their first meeting.  A win will bring Metrowest to 4 - 4 and tie a franchise record for wins in a season.  With three games remaining, the Colonials are still in the hunt for a playoff berth.
