CranioSacral Therapy in Shrewsbury

On March 8th & 9th 2014, Greendale Physical Therapy hosted a unique course on CranioSacral Therapy at their Shrewsbury facility located at 280 Boston Turnpike. This gentle alternative therapy course was instructed by renowned practitioner Ken Dipersio, who was flown in from Florida specifically to educate Greendale therapists on the various techniques of this holistic treatment.

CranioSacral, which is a form of bodywork therapy, is the gentle application of pressure on the patients face, skull, spine, and pelvis. This alternative therapy has been used to benefit people that have chronic pain, postural dysfunctions, as well as used for various neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. CranioSacral Therapy can be performed independently of adjunct treatments, modalities or exercises, but it is most commonly integrated with other therapies to further enhance the positive effects. Many patients experience deep relaxation during and after treatments due to an increase of endorphins in the body.

“It is definitely a different type of manual therapy that requires specialized training, but oftentimes that is what is needed with patients who don’t respond to other forms of treatment.”- Alison Cohen, Greendale therapist

“It is one of those special treatments that is so gentle but so powerful and can benefit people with difficult conditions, it works especially well when we are able to combine it with other therapies we do, like postural re-patterning, Pilates, and aquatics.” - Nicolette Peltier-Bender, Greendale therapist

Patients of Greendale Physical Therapy can now experience the holistic healing practice of CranioSacral Therapy to balance the Craniosacral system in the body.
