Citizen Search for Mom and Siblings of Special Needs Kittens Found near Boys and Girls Club!

Kittens abandoned near Boys and Girls Club sick, rescue seeks littermates and momcat for treatment!

Help needed to find littermates  and mom of 2 kittens found abandoned

Today, a good Samaritan walking near the Boys and Girls club found a box with something special inside.  Two baby kittens about 6-8 weeks old peeped up at her – but something was wrong.  The larger kitten, clean and bright eyed, clearly could not stand up, though relaxed in her rescuer’s arms.  The small, black kitten was equally friendly, but thin and frail, and with his eyes partially obscured by his third eyelid.

Knowing she had to go to work, and didn’t have much time, she brought the kittens to her home nearby, and called Compassion Veterinary Clinic.  The friendly staff there recommended she call CaRMaH for assistance.  CaRMaH sent a volunteer to her home to scoop up the two boys, who were enjoying lap time with the family.

Theo, the Siamese boy, cannot walk properly due to a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia.  This is cause by a virus, panleukopenia, contracted by the mother cat during pregnancy, or by the kitten shortly after birth.  It is not progressive – in face, his mobility may improve as he matures, but he is unlikely to walk like a typical cat.  He is able to eat, drink and use the cat box just fine, and can reach toys he wants quite easily.

Evan, the black boy, has a third eyelid – the nictitating membrane – that currently covers part of his eye.  This is usually a temporary issue, so once he is treated with medications, should resolve.  But, he is very thin – CaRMaH is hoping this is due to intestinal parasites, so once treated, he should put on weight.

Theo and Evan will be up for adoption through CaRMaH once healthy and neutered.

CaRMaH is seeking any information about the littermates or mom of these kittens.  There may be littermates with treatable parasite infections, who will do well with inexpensive veterinary medications.  There may also be kittens like Theo, which do best in homes that can care for them with regular veterinary care.  The momcat should also be seen to be treated for internal parasites, and receive her vaccines – and be spayed.  We realize that the folks who had these kittens fed them and kept them clean, but may have felt overwhelmed by their health issues – and we want to help them, as well.

We will maintain the privacy of anyone who calls – owner, neighbors, friends – our goal is to get these kittens and momcat the care they need.
