What's Open and Closed on New Year's Day in Marlborough?

Here are some businesses that are open, or closed, on the holiday.

New Year's Day is a federal holiday, which means many private offices will be closed. Businesses make the decision on a case-by-case basis. Here is a sampling of what we found:

Supermarkets are open, although some may have holiday hours. Hannaford is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Marlborough Price Chopper is opening at 7 a.m. New Year's Day.

Garbage and recycling collection on Wednesday will be delayed until Saturday.
Government offices are closed, including Marlborough District Court and Marlborough City Hall.

Some restaurants are open. Call ahead to check as many are closed. Here is what we found: Welly's Restaurant on Main Street is closed for the holiday. Fish Restaurant and Wine Bar also is closed on New Year's Day, and so is Jake's and Big Apple Restaurant. Sunnyside Cafe is open for regular hours, and so is Sully's First Edition Pub.

Starbucks in downtown Marlborough and on Boston Post Road West will open a little later than normal, at 7 a.m.

Solomon Pond Mall is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hop 'n Jump, a new indoor play facility for children, at 72 Jefferson St., is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The admission s $10 per child. Adults admitted free.
