Santa Visits for Christmas Tree Lighting

The Marlborough Christmas Tree was lit on Friday night, after a rainy countdown.

The Christmas season kicked off in Marlborough Friday night with a tree lighting, a High School Chorus singing classic carols, and Santa Claus stopping by to greet children and their parents.

Santa arrived at the event on Ladder 1 from the Marlborough Fire Department, and remained through the rain to pose for photos. He was mobbed as soon as he stepped off the fire truck.

Several hundred people attended the festivities, pulling out umbrellas and hoods once the rain started to fall.

Mayor Arthur Vigeant led the crowd in a speedy countdown to the tree lighting. Afterward, people went to listen to the Milford High School strings and jazz band at First Church.

WMCT TV covered the event with a video, seen here.
