Vigil for Kiya

Several people speak at this Vigil for Kiya, a Pit Bull Terrier (also known as Puppy Doe) who was tortured and abused before being found near a park in Quincy. Due to the extent of her injuries, she was put down.

Vigil being hosted by Pet Rocik Fest, Lyn Gorka and Cathy Staniunas. Speakers include Staniunas and Kara Holmquist, on behalf of the MSPCA. Brianna Grace will sing a song in Puppy Doe's memory, and Jeffrey Brandt will read a poem.

From the organizer: "The purpose of the vigil is to remind people that this kind of cruelty on animals cannot be tolerated. We want to thank the Quincy Police for bringing this monster to justice. They worked hard and were persistent."

"I want to have this vigil to remind people that this dog died because of the abuse it took from a monster, and to remind people not to give their pets away free or on Craigslist. Give to a shelter when in doubt. We all need to be the voice for our animals because they all depend upon us and we need to keep them out of harm's way."

People should bring candles. No money will be donated or exchanged.
