Marlborough residents to star in Broadway classic "CABARET"

Marlborough-based Moonstruck Theater Company is pleased to present the Tony award winning CABARET, opening Friday, July 19, and running for four performances through July 21. Performances take place at West Boylston Junior-Senior High School, 125 Crescent St., West Boylston, MA.

Take your seat at the Kit Kat Klub, the perfectly marvelous cabaret, where singer Sally Bowles meets writer Cliff Bradshaw. As the two pursue a life of pleasure in Weimar Berlin, the world outside the Klub begins to splinter. Sally and Cliff are faced with a choice: abandon themselves to the pleasures promised by the cabaret, or open their eyes and face the coming storm. Immortalized on film by Liza Minelli and Joel Grey, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Joe Masteroff, CABARET is a theatrical experience like few others.

The production features 18 performers from the Boston and MetroWest regions, including Marlborough residents Caroline Fonseca and Shannon Hinkley as Lulu and Fritzy, both performers at the Kit Kat Klub, and Jonathan McCauley as Ernst Ludwig, the brash, young political activist whose allegiances are called into question.

Caroline Fonseca founded Moonstruck Theater Company eight years ago. “Of all the 60-odd productions I've worked on here and overseas,” Caroline said, “the ones I do with Moonstruck have been not only the most exciting and challenging, in a good way, but the most meaningful. Moonstruck really is a team that does every element of the show together and it makes for a much more fulfilling process.” When not performing, Caroline works in at Berklee College of Music and participates in ballroom dancing competitions.

Shannon Hinkley has participated in theater since she was 12 years old, and most fondly recalls playing Audrey in a production of “Little Shop of Horrors”. This is her third production with Moonstruck Theater Company, having previously been a part of their productions of “The Wedding Singer” and “Fame - The Musical”. Shannon works as a “Relationship Advisor” with Silicon Valley Bank, and has been with the company for seven years.

Jonathan McCauley is performing for the fourth time with Moonstruck Theater Company, after spending the last three seasons playing Glen Guglia in “The Wedding Singer,” Mr. Myers in “Fame – The Musical,” and Mr. McQueen in “Urinetown: The Musical.” Originally from Ohio, Jon is also a trained opera singer.

The show is directed by Matthew Sherman, music directed by Samantha Prindiville, and choreographed by Caroline Fonseca. The production will be presented at West Boylston Senior-Junior High School.

Tickets are $17 general admission and $12 for senior citizens and students. For tickets, reservations, and more information, visit www.moonstrucktheater.org or call 508-251-9224.
