Amahl and the Night Visitors & The Gift of the Magi

The River's Edge Arts Alliance would like you to make us part of your holiday tradition by attending the River's Edge Player's holiday production of the double-billed Amahl and the Night Visitors & The Gift of the Magi.

Amahl and the Night Visitors is an opera in one act by Gian Carlo Menotti written in English. The young shepard Amahl, known for telling fibs, is unable to convince his mother that the Three Kings are at their door. When she sees he is telling the truth she invites then into her home. What transpires is how a lesson on faith, charity, love and good deeds can work miracles. The Gift of the Magi is a one act play based on the original classic written by O. Henry. This heartwarming romantic comedy tells the story of Della and Jim, who are desperately in love but also very poor. In their attempts to buy each other proper Christmas gifts a strange twist of fate leads the couple to find the perfect gifts for each other - but at an unexpected cost.

Elizabeth Havenor will be directing both community theater productions with music direction of Amahl and the Night Vistors by Paul Johnson. Tickets can be purchased at upwitharts.org or by calling 978-562-1646. $1.00 from each ticket will be donated to Andrews Helpful Hands.
